Renovation of rain and drinking water tanks — Biodynamics Mouscron
Biodynamics
At Biodynamics in Mouscron, a renovation was carried out on two concentrically constructed tanks, where the outer ring collects rainwater and the inner ring stores RO water (osmosis water). Due to the low conductivity (± 100 µS/cm) and the drinking water safety requirements, a sustainable solution was chosen with the Penetron system standard.
The inside of the inner ring (floors and walls) has been fully treated — covering an area of ± 530 m².
Activities carried out
After emptying and cleaning the tanks, the following step-by-step plan was implemented:
- Substrate preparation: removal of old layers and roughening of the surface.
- Repairing kimnads and local damage with Penecrete Mortar.
- Applying Penetron Slurry:
- 2 layers on the walls (wet-on-wet).
- 1 layer on the floor.
This method offers a sustainable, NSF-approved solution for drinking water storage.
Products used
- Penetron Slurry: crystalline waterproofing system, safe for drinking water applications.
- Penecrete Mortar: for sealing seams and local repair zones.
- Peneplug & Penebar (optional): for watertight sealing of active leaks and landfills.
Thanks to this approach, not only the watertightness is restored, but also the structural integrity is extended.
